Our TEAM

Experience matters when building a new industry. It’s hard to find people who have done it successfully. That’s where my team and I come in.

ANDREW DEANGELO

  • Harborside Health Center was one of the first licensed medical cannabis dispensaries in America, opening its doors on October 3, 2006, in Oakland, California. My older brother Steve DeAngelo and I founded the company with our own money. We developed a unique business model for dispensaries that had never been done before. Instead of having a lot of bulletproof glass and armed security guards everywhere, we wanted patients from all walks of life to feel comfortable getting their medical cannabis from Harborside. We took the bars off the windows, we invested in a high-end but accessible look and feel, and we trained our staff to deliver the best customer service in the industry. The world responded to this vision by making Harborside Health Center the largest brand in medical cannabis in the nation with over $40 million in annual sales.

  • When the adult-use framework came to California in 2018, we bought a farm and made the company larger with vertical supply chain integration. I was in charge of overseeing the output of the cannabis farm and the sales of our retail locations. Soon after, we took the company public and exited so that investors could hire executives with public company experience to continue to scale the business.

Today Harborside is part of the largest cannabis company in California, known as Statehouse. I ran the day-to-day operations for over 12 years, helped expand the company to six locations, and managed a team of over 250 employees. Statehouse now has an annual revenue of over $100 million.

  • When I left Harborside, I wanted to do something more meaningful so my brother and I started a nonprofit 5013c organization called Last Prisoner Project (LPP). The mission of LPP is to free all non-violent cannabis prisoners in America and beyond. After just four short years, LPP has an annual budget of $3.5 million dollars a year and distributes a majority of these funds directly to cannabis prisoners or their families. Today LPP is considered one of the premier social justice organizations in the country.

  • Helping other entrepreneurs has always been a passion of mine so in 2020, I decided to start Andrew DeAngelo Consulting. This was not easy to do during a global pandemic but I put together a small team of the best subject matter experts I knew in the industry and got to work.

Less than three years later, we’ve helped clients build both industrial hemp and cannabis companies for medical and adult-use frameworks. We’ve done this all over the country, and now in Europe and Latin America.

I’ve also been hired as a columnist covering the industry for a variety of mainstream media and cannabis trade publications.

DOUG FINE

Large-scale Hemp & Regenerative Cannabis Cultivation

For a client with a multiyear vision whose enterprise mission in cannabis or hemp includes regenerative practices, Doug Fine is the number-one guy with whom you want to work.

As his Native American/Indigenous American, collegiate and private clients agree, this all starts in the soil. Doug is the kind of advisor who likes being there in the field making sure that all the crucial steps he’s learned over eight seasons are taken before a crop is planted. This is to make sure that an eventual large-scale enterprise has a competitive advantage in the harvest itself.

After all, we’re talking about enterprises built around the plant. And using regenerative practices results in both better quality harvests and bragging rights to carbon sequestration in brand marketing. Doug is thus also valuable all the way through the harvest processing, packaging and branding process, having helped design early phase product packaging for a 150-acre harvest venture.

He works on all sides of the hemp/cannabis plant, from food to genetics, to fiber to flower to adult social.
